Mother’s Day Gift List 2022

I believe any mother is usually in want for some peace and quiet, a lie in, and some quality family time, so there should definitely not be any pressure to spend beyond your means on Mother’s Day presents. It’s a day to tell the mother in your life exactly how special and important they are, to tell them how much they are appreciated for all they do. A handmade card and a cake or breakfast could make the most exhausted of mums smile all day.

But, in case you do want to splash out, here are a few ideas for Mother’s Day presents this year.

An Annual Subscription to Positive Wellbeing Zine for Mums by Isabella and Us. It’s just £26 for the whole year so it’s the gift that will keep on giving. Every article is quick and easy to read, it’s perfect to pick up with a quick cuppa or in the 5-10min ‘break’ they might manage. Each article, poem and letter I’ve read has resonated on some level or another, there are some beautiful words and a fantastic array of writers who contribute in each issue.

An experience will always outweigh a physical gift (in my opinion), so a voucher to visit a garden is a fantastic idea. Virgin Experience Days offer entrance to Kew Gardens for £39 (with more expensive options that include cream or afternoon tea for two). And Red Letter Days have entrance to The Eden Project for £57 (plus 10% off your first order when you sign up to their newsletter).

Continuing with the idea of experiences, I love the idea of a creative workshop. Check out the Mindful Spring Wreath Making Workshop from Kendall at Adventures with Flowers for £60. It’s not only a chance for them to get out of the house childfree, but it’s dedicated time to creativity, productivity and a little lesson in mindfulness too. Plus the chance to have adult conversation with likeminded people for a few hours, what’s not to love?

Anyone who knows me knows I love a personalised gift, and I specifically asked for this one for my first mother’s day last year. For £17.99 this Personalised ‘Mummy’ Framed Photo Print from Getting Personal hangs with pride in my bedroom. You can personalise it with a message and three photos of your choice, which makes it thoughtful as well as stylish. We also have the matching ‘daddy’ one from Father’s Day too.

Perhaps your mum is a whizz in the kitchen, but has everything she needs. Not to worry, I bet she won’t have one of these. Capture handwriting and a recipe in one gift with this Custom Recipe Tea Towel by Happy Mode Gifts on Etsy. You could use a handed down family recipe, or something in her handwriting that she can then pass on. It’s truly unique and a definite winner in my eyes, and all for £15.50.

I was lucky enough to win a competition for a Power Hour with Rose, owner of You Beyond Baby, before Christmas, so I can personally recommend it to any mum. Weather they stay at home or work, I think the session and space Rose offers can be of such value to any woman who feels overwhelmed, confused, frustrated, or just a bit lost at times. For £115, Rose’s power hour gives mums the time, space and guidance to take the next steps to feeling happier and more content.

Pick a flower with meaning. Think beyond the usual bunch of flowers (that will undoubtedly die within a week or so), and instead look for something longer lasting. Check out David Austin Roses (sold at many garden centres or online). They have shrubs, climbers, and everything in between. You can find one for every occasion, and some even have names too so this can make for a beautiful personalised gift that will give back for years to come, for under £30.

For a breastfeeding mama, I love the idea of a Breastmilk Keepsake by Stuffed With Love. Weather they’ve been breastfeeding for a few days, or over a year, a little keepsake is a beautiful way to celebrate the journey and achievement they’ve managed. There is a stunning range of rings, bracelets, charms, necklaces and more. It’s more of an investment gift (prices range from £50-£180), but payments can be made with Klarna and clearpay too.

And if fresh flowers and plants aren’t your thing then look into the creativity of Preserved Flowers, like these preserved dried flower glass bottle candle holders from £25. They don’t need to be from a bridal bouquet, perhaps just her favourite flowers, they can make stunning centrepieces and home decorations with real thought and effort behind them.

A self-care box, beautifully curated by The Sun and My Soul from £27 is a lovely way to treat the overworked, overwhelmed and over-everything mother in your life. With a focus on wellbeing these boxes are full of treats and goodies that are all sustainable sourced and eco-friendly and are sure to bring a smile to a mother’s face this Mother’s Day.
